"Now that I have been using the interactive map for a week or so, well, I found SEVERAL organizations of interest to me, all just a few blocks away, so it's great! Some of these are: Medicin Sans Frontier Quebec, Net Impact and Defenders of the Land to name a few. I have registered and will be attending my first meeting with Net Impact."
First things first
It's good to get an overview before doing anything else. So if you haven't, try finding out About WiserEarth and read the FAQ page.
Search
What is your passion? What are your interests? Where do you live or work?
Enter the keywords that answers these questions into the search box.
Dig deeper using advanced filters available on the search results page. With them you can for example find all organizations working on climate change in your city, or all permaculture people in this country.
Areas of Focus
Visit the Areas of Focus page to see a listing of topics linking people, organizations, groups and information in WiserEarth. Here's an example for "Cultural Diversity". Click on the link, then go to the connected pages.

Dashboard
On your dashboard, the Friend Feed module will display recent activities from people in your network, and the What's New module will display recently added / top rated / most viewed pages on WiserEarth.
Network
When you find an interesting or useful page that you want to bookmark or reference later, you just need to click "Add to your network" in the Actions box. The page will then be listed on your network, which is displayed on your profile page.

This page is the 'getting started' link from the current 'getsatisfaction' support page. How about including info to help members complete their profile? This help is currently omitted from the wiserearth sign-up process as well. I'd love to see wiserearth find a way to provide this help at every stage (rather than none) so the site can grab hold of its potential as an active sustainability community. James |

Hi Spencer,
If you use either Firefox, Chrome, Flock or Thunderbird for your emails, try using the WiseStamp extension/addon. There's a tutorial on their website on how to include an image on your email signature(s).

How do I add Wiser Earth logo, previously downloaded as jpeg to desktop, to my emails please? I can copy & paste it from desktop into a new word document but cannot copy from either into email. Thanks, Spencer. |

is there a way to bypass all the hoopla surrounding joining.... and allowing indiviuduals to come back later and complete. i posted my response on the next page to this..... I need a way for people i invite to participate in discussion and join a group to just be able to join WE with say a user name and password like most other sites and then come back later and fill in their profiles.
The ideal world would be we would have a Wiser Angel on board 24x7 to IM with newcomers and introduce them to what might be of interest, sorta create their profile along with them ..... NOW that would be something completely different (or not ....) kinda like what they do in Second Life when you join..... maybe we need to create a tutorial session in Second Life. Are we there yet? |
